Fash-hun?

FASHION!

I don't have ANY claim to being a fashionista, a photographer (ha!) or a blogger (read: zero tech skills), but I love wearing cute clothes and feeling put-together, even when just hanging out with my minions.

Welcome to Grumbling Grace

Joy is the best makeup (Anne Lamott)… unless you have children, in which case, concealer is the best makeup (Grumbling Grace).

Hey girl, heyyy! I'm Abbie.

Or should it be 'Hey girl, eh?' ... I'm Canadian.

Welcome to the Abbie show the Grumbling Grace Community! I'm a certified mombies of two littles, a high school French and English teacher and a wife to an extremely patient (and studly) gentleman. I write about fails, faith and mom life and I like sharing when other people write about that stuff too.

Here are a few recent topics to get you started.

I'm teaming up with Shaunacey every Saturday to bring you hot mess mom honesty in response to real live mom Google searches. We don't promise to be right, but we're definitely real.

Newbies

Note: This post was originally published in April 2014.

Newbie: Urban Dictionary defines a newbie as a person new to a game, concept, or forum. Not to be confused with a stupid person. Newbies are just new.

Maybe you're a rookie parent or student or pet owner or dishwasher.

We've all been there and I like newbies. They don’t always know the right way to do things, they aren’t the best at everything, but they ask interesting questions. They bring a fresh perspective and an enthusiasm that hasn’t been dampened by experience.  I think it’s why I love teaching kids in grade nine, when they first start high school and are full of fear and awkward fashion choices. Busting with bravado and raucous behavior.  Ready to try and fail and figure it out.

Stuff.

I want to write about… stuff. This feels less like a blog post and more like a confessional or an addicts anonymous meeting.

Are you being served? A look at short-term missions.

Service
Service is kind of a big deal. Everyone can think of an example of bad service. It sticks with you. But, GOOD service is what I want to talk about today. Good service is a really big deal... not just at the gas station or a restaurant. In schools, service learning is becoming a major focus for students because it's effective, it promotes engagement and self-direction and it asks more than listening, absorbing, and consuming.
