I just wanted to say "On Fleek," okay?
I'm on maternity leave (yay Canada!), so I only get to IMAGINE fourteen-year-olds shuddering as I misuse their slang. I miss work.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Such a great how-to teaching video.
Anyway, it's FRI-YAY! Ready to
Our mom uniform today is the good old t-shirt (or tank top) and jeans. Ahhhh. Comfort and style, together at last.
I KNOW you have both of these items in your closet. You might even be wearing them right now.
I don't care if your t-shirts are long, short, striped, old, polka-dotted or are actually tank tops.
I don't care if your jeans are skinny, straight-legged, flared or boot-cut.
Get ready to fancy them up.
How, you ask?
Simple. Add a blazer and hit the town!
If you're envisioning an accountant (sorry, accountants) or perhaps this realtor:
You should have a blazer in your closet.
1. They're adorable and flattering. You can wear them open and hide those charming side rolls.
2. They dress up ANYTHING (and make sleeveless options winter cute and cozy). Dresses, T-shirt and jeans, whatever.
3. They are as comfortable as sweaters and there are endless variations of them. Structured, unstructured, buttoned, unbuttoned, brightly patterned, plain. Long, short. You get it.
So today, our mom uniform is:
T-Shirt/Tank Top + Blazer + Jeans + Pumps/Booties
Here are a few combos from my closet, all paired with Banana Republic skinny boyfriend crop jeans.
Dress it up...
White Blazer: Le Chateau, Navy T-Shirt: French Connection, Cream Pumps: Nine West, Coral Collar Necklace: Walmart
Or dress it down.
Striped Blazer: Suzy Shier, Blue Tank Top: Banana Republic, Cream Pumps: Nine West
Flowered Blazer: RW & Co., White T-Shirt: RW & Co., Necklace: Suzy Shier, Black Booties: Miz Mooz (link to similar shoe)
Black Blazer: RW & Co., Patterned Tank Top: Soya Concept, Necklace: Ardene's, Black Booties: Miz Mooz
Kimono Blazer: Suzy Shier, Lace T-Shirt: Dex, Cream Pumps: Nine West
Navy Blazer: Suzy Shier, Necklace: Ardene's, Maroon T-Shirt: RW & Co., Cream Pumps: Nine West
I come back to this combo over and over again because switching up the t-shirt or tank top (who doesn't have t-shirts?) and blazer gives you endless combinations... and sometimes a blazer makes jeans work/church/meeting appropriate. Bonus.
Add some pop to your blazer with a fun colour, a great scarf, or a graphic t-shirt, like my friend Erin here:
Love that scarf (She claims it's old but I will FIND ONE). LOVE that yellow blazer (Ricki's)
So cute with a graphic tee. Especially one that supports an awesome cause like this one!
All right. Erin and I have got our blazers on, so... see ya! Don't forget to feed the kids!
